Choosing the right Filter Regulator Lubricator (FRL) is crucial for keeping air circulating through a compressor. Compressed air contains moisture and dirt, and can cause damage if the air isn't cleaned. Filter regulator lubricators keep the air clean and deliver a controlled amount of oil to moving components.

There are two types of lubricators available from IMI Norgren. Both use a spring to place a load against the diaphragm assembly, which forces air up through the valve pin. This minimizes abrasive effects and extends the life of the valve.

Lubricators are designed for air flow rates between 3 and 7 psig. They can be selected based on the size of the pipe connection, as well as the air flow requirements.
To select the correct regulator, a flow characteristic chart provided by the manufacturer is essential. The manufacturer's chart should show the pressure drop at various flow rates. Once you've determined the maximum allowable pressure drop, choose a regulator that can handle it.

If you're using a synthetic compressor lubricant, you'll need a metal bowl. In addition, you'll need a float-type drain to remove moisture.
Filter regulator lubricators are also available as individual elements. Some are available as hose fittings and some are available as air regulators. Each of these products is designed to work in conjunction with the other to provide the most efficient and effective performance.
Lubricators are available in standard body sizes. Lubricators with a smaller body will produce less droop, whereas a larger body size will produce better setting sensitivity.
