Mini Cylinders are an excellent choice for applications that require a low profile linear actuator. They are available in both single and double acting models and are perfect for pneumatic systems that have space constraints.

The basic elements of a cylinder are an enclosure made of pressure resistant metal, an air inlet and a piston that is moved by pressurized air. Pneumatic cylinders are used in many industries because of their low cost and efficiency.

Typical cylinder bore sizes range from 4.5 to 20 mm. The bore houses the internal components and is sealed by two end caps located on opposite sides of the cylinder. Seals with cushioning capability are placed between the bore and the caps to prevent leakage and high impact during actuation.

Medical gas cylinders are commonly made from light weight chrome molybdenum steel, aluminum or a composite material such as aluminum wrapped in carbon fiber. They are primarily used for storing oxygen but can also be used to store other types of flammable gases such as hydrogen sulfide.

Special cylinders for use in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) rooms are manufactured from aluminum and can be filled with high pressure. These cylinders have a color coding system on their body and are designed to withstand high pressure and exposure to heat.

Clevis-Mounted Pneumatic Cylinders:
Clevis-mounted pneumatic cylinders are fastened to a surface with a male clevis attachment pin that is bolted through the rear cap of the cylinder. The female clevis attachment pin is then mounted in the slot of the male clevis attachment pin. This allows the cylinder to rotate about the male clevis pin and transmit load through the cylinder rod.
